MAKING BELLINGHAM HOME

About Lisa

Bellingham has been my home for over 33 years.  I have raised my family here, and I am deeply connected to this great community. In 1997, my husband Cory and I bought a 1907 fixer-upper in the York Neighborhood. We have labored for many years, preserving our little part of Bellingham’s history. This is my home, and it tends to my heart, stirs my passions, and deepens my convictions to serve our shared community and the people that live, work, and play here in Bellingham.

Education is an important part of my life. I worked diligently to attend Whatcom Community College as a single mom, and then Western Washington University earned my Bachelor of Arts. I was fortunate to gain employment in the City by the Bay that I love and worked at WWU helping others achieve their goals in higher education. I then went on to achieve my master’s in education. This allowed me to help even more students by changing careers to work at WCC. I have been with Whatcom Community College for 17 years and now manage the testing center. I feel privileged to help so many deserving students. As a wife, mother, renovator, and accomplished professional, I still make time and live my commitment by volunteering in our community.

My 25 years of volunteering include serving four years on the City of Bellingham’s Planning Commission, seven years as a York Neighborhood board member, and one year each on the Mayor’s Neighborhood Advisory Committee and the City of Bellingham’s Shoreline committee. Currently, I am serving as a member of the DVSAS Board of Directors. For the past three years, I have been your Bellingham City Councilor in Ward 5.
